BUSINESS NETWORK

ruhr:HUB

As an initiative of six cities in the Ruhr region – Bochum, Dortmund, Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen, Mülheim an der Ruhr and the business metropolis Ruhr – the ruhr:HUB serves as the central contact point for the digital economy in the Ruhr region. We offer startups a platform to connect with businesses, science, investors and politics and thus build up the necessary network for successful growth.

Our goal is to support companies and startups in the emerging topics of digitization and thus to equip the region and its fast growing startup scene for the future. This is done, among other things, through offers such as reverse pitches and hackathons, in which concrete topics are interactively dealt with and innovative solutions are actively sought. In addition, the ruhr:HUB with its premises for co-working and the establishment of a digital community as a physical location in the heart of Essen is available 24/7. We are looking forward to seeing you!

Startup Ecosystem Ruhr

Here beats the heart of the industrial tech, cyber security and logistics scene in Germany and rightly so: no other region has such a high density of universities or company headquarters as here.

5 million people populating 53 cities, the largest inland port in the world, 290,000 students in numerous universities and one of Europe’s leading technology parks, make the Ruhr an ideal incubator for tech startups and digital innovations. We have the young talents, customers and sponsors at one location.

Driven by the high industrial density and the focal points of the regional universities, clusters have developed in the Ruhr area, which are now themselves internationally recognised.  In this context the areas Cyber Security, driven by the locations Bochum and Gelsenkirchen or Logistics in Dortmund and Duisburg are to be mentioned. We see a significant number of excellent startups in both sectors. The trend is rising. New technologies (above all) in the B2B application areas are generally grouped under Industrial Tech: Virtual Reality (VR/AR), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Analytics, Business Intelligence (BI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Robotics.

More information on the thematic clusters in the Ruhr area and their opportunities can be found here: https://made-with-pottential.de/

In addition to the ruhr:HUB, there are many other initiatives in the Ruhr area that offer startups the opportunity to present their formats or to assert themselves in competitions. An overview of all initiatives can be found at: http://www.hub.ruhr/initiativen/
